Staying at Quex Glamping? You’re just a short drive from some of the most beautiful beaches in Kent! Thanet is home to golden sands, iconic seaside towns, and plenty of spots for paddling, sunbathing, and making memories. Whether you're heading to Broadstairs, Margate, Ramsgate, or one of the hidden coves, here are our top tips for the perfect beach day.
1. Pick the Right Beach for You
Families love Viking Bay in Broadstairs – it’s sandy, safe, and close to cafés and ice cream.
Surfers and sunset seekers should head to Joss Bay or Minnis Bay.
Want something quieter? Try Botany Bay with its chalk cliffs and rock pools.
2. Pack Smart
Bring the essentials:
Suncream and hats
Towels or beach blankets
Plenty of water and snacks
Buckets and spades for the kids
A good book (or a nap!)
If you forgot anything, Westwood Cross shopping centre is nearby for a quick top-up.
3. Check the Tide Times
Some Thanet beaches disappear completely at high tide—so check ahead if you want to explore rock pools or set up for the day. You can find local tide times online or ask at Quex Glamping reception.
4. Don’t Forget Parking & Toilets
Popular beaches like Margate Main Sands have large car parks and public toilets, but smaller bays like Kingsgate or Stone Bay have more limited access. Arrive early for the best spots, especially on sunny weekends.
5. Leave No Trace
Thanet’s beaches are stunning—let’s keep them that way. Take all rubbish with you, and leave the sand (and sea life!) just as you found it.
6. Make It Extra Special
Why not upgrade your beach day with a visit to Dreamland in Margate for some retro fun, or grab fish and chips on the seafront in Broadstairs? For a quieter treat, take a coastal walk between bays and enjoy the views.
After a full day by the sea, head back to your cosy bell tent at Quex Glamping for a hot shower, a chilled drink from the bar, and a peaceful night under the stars.
